Case study 01 · The Walt Disney Company

National Geographic × Lindblad co-branding

Two expedition brands, one website. It had to look like both of them at once, and still be something the content teams could update themselves every week.

The co-branded National Geographic and Lindblad expedition page

Role

Consultant / Technical Lead, via Myridius

Period

April 2024 — present

Worked with

Disney UI/UX team, LEX team, QA and content authors

Stack

AEM · ReactJS · Storybook · MapBox

Problem

Two brands that both had to feel like themselves

The partnership needed pages that read as National Geographic and Lindblad at the same time, without building a second version of everything to get there.

It also had to stay editable by the people who publish it, so a change to a trip page never had to wait on a developer.

My role

Build it, prove it, support it

  • Built the new pieces the partnership needed, and documented them so the next person could reuse them.
  • Worked directly with Disney's designers on how each piece should look and behave, checking every requirement against what was agreed.
  • Worked with the LEX team to bring in the maps travellers use to follow a voyage.
  • Wrote the tests, ran the releases, and handled what came up once it was live.

Result

Shipped, and still shipping

The co-branded pages went live and are still maintained by the same team, with the maps handed over cleanly. I stayed on as the lead for the work that followed.

What I'd take to the next team

Work like this rewards patience with other people's constraints. Building it was never the hard part — getting two brands to agree what something means, and writing that down so it outlives the people who agreed it, was.
